There will be 550 kilometres (340 mi) of drivable roads, as stated on Steam news hub for the game. Unlike its two predecessors of both Oahu and Ibiza, the road will be left-hand traffic, a first in the series since The Brotherhood of Speed's Tokyo and London. The game will have "a realistic driving experience", indicating that the game will have a realistic handling model and will be more on simulation side, unlike its predecessor Test Drive Unlimited 2. The game will feature a 1:1 recreation of Hong Kong Island as revealed in a trailer released on 6 July 2021 during Nacon Connect 2021. Based on copyright text at the end of the video, the game will feature vehicles from (among others to be announced) Bugatti, Dodge, Ferrari, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, and Porsche. The game was officially announced on that date during the event with a 25-second teaser trailer, with Kylotonn (under their KT Racing brand) developing. On 3 July 2020, the official Test Drive Twitter account tweeted a twelve-second video clip of a crown-shaped logo with the letters "SC" in it forming, announcing a full reveal during the Nacon Connect video event on 7 July. In April 2020, Nacon filed a trade mark to the Intellectual Property Office for Test Drive Solar Crown, the last two words referring to the Solar Crown in-universe racing competition series featured in 2011's Test Drive Unlimited 2. In 2018, Bigben announced the acquisition of French game developer Kylotonn, with Roman Vincent, president of Kylotonn suggesting they were working on the next installment of Test Drive. It was reported in December 2016 that French publisher Bigben Interactive (now called Nacon) acquired the Test Drive intellectual property from Atari, with plans to reboot the franchise. Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is set to be released for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2023. The game was teased on 3 July 2020 on Twitter and was officially revealed during the Nacon Connect event on 7 July. It will be the twenty-first game in the Test Drive series, the first title in the series since 2012's Test Drive, and the third game in the franchise's open world Unlimited reboot, following 2011's Test Drive Unlimited 2. Check out the full trailer above.Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is an upcoming racing video game developed by KT Racing and published by Nacon. It'll be a minute before we get to race around the streets of Hong Kong, but hopefully it's worth the wait. Unfortunately, we have some time to wait as the new game isn't coming until September 2022. Forza Horizon could use some competition these days. Like I said, we'll need to wait for some gameplay to see how TDU Solar Crown shapes up, but it's good to see the series rebooted at any rate. Indeed, we get a few shots of clubs, partying, penthouse views and more in the trailer. There will surely be a whole lot of luxury on tap, as TDU games are best known for. All the while, you'll try to raise your ranks within a clan to climb the floors in the Solar Crown Hotel - a fictional building in the recreated Hong Kong Island. Once you pick your clan, you'll get the chance to race around Hong Kong Island and carry out other missions like transport or escort gigs. It's not clear yet what kinds of cars we're talking about, but we do see an Aston Martin DB11 and a Range Rover in the opening scene. They'll choose to roll with either "Sharps" or "Streets," which are two in-game clans with distinct vehicle choices. The player will race within a completely recreated Hong Kong Island. Nacon takes over publishing duties from Atari for this new TDU game, and KT Racing is driving development these days, rather than now-defunct Eden Games.Īlthough we didn't see any gameplay footage from TDU Solar Crown, we learned a lot about the game. The new video game made its debut during the Nacon Connect conference Tuesday. Ten years after the last TDU game showed up, Test Drive Unlimited 2, we received a new trailer for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown - and it's heading to Hong Kong. Buckle up because the Test Drive Unlimited series is set for a return.
